Why did government implement BCIN?
Why did government regulate BCIN: The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing needed to create licensing for designers in order to upgrade this industry and aid in the enforcement the Ontario Building Code (OBC) and the Act. This allowed the Ministry to manage the professionalism of this industry as well as streamline and unify the building permit process throughout Ontario.
In 2006, the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing implemented Bill 124 which enacted the regulation of this industry. In other words, the BCIN industry follows under an Act from the Province.
